What is the Atlanta Fashion Incubator?
The Atlanta Fashion Incubator is a resource center working to ensure emerging entrepreneurial fashion design companies grow into self-sustaining businesses. AFIs goals are to support and retain design talent in the south, celebrate fashion as a creative art form, and encourage size diversity in the fashion industry.
AFIs Goals are to:
The Atlanta Fashion Incubator [AFi] is a 501(c)(3) industry specific small business resource center dedicated to supporting and nurturing new fashion entrepreneurs in and around Atlanta, Georgia, revitalizing and networking the local fashion industry, and promoting Georgia fashion as art and culture.
AFI offers an exciting and unique opportunity for talented and creative fashion designers to successfully enter the fashion industry with their own business. It offers a “support net” for designers in business; helping them through the plethora of issues and problems that can inundate new ventures, and in so doing, enhance their chances of business success.
The end goal is for AFI members to leave with successful, viable fashion businesses. This translates into real jobs and business creation that benefits our city and our community.
The Atlanta Fashion Incubator also strives to encourage size diversity in the fashion industry. Towards that end, we will challenge designers to create at least ONE sample size for a future collection in a size 12 or larger. We will also challenge them to create at least ONE runway outfit for one or more of their upcoming fashion shows in a size 12 or larger.
