BE THE CHANGE: Accept the Challenge! PDF Print E-mail
AFI strives to encourage size diversity in the fashion industry. Towards that end, we challenge designers to create at least ONE sample size for a future collection in a size 12 or larger to be made available to the press for media editorials and coverage. We will also challenge them to create at least ONE runway outfit for one or more of their upcoming fashion shows in a size 12 or larger to be worn by a full-figured model. The Atlanta Fashion Incubator has accepted the challenges issued by our friends at walkthecatwalk.

Second International Conference of Fashion Incubators PDF Print E-mail

international . incubate = i2 + fashion

11.12-14.2009
atlanta, georgia, usa

In March 2007, the culmination of a two year project by a UK-French partnership resulted in the first International Conference of Fashion Incubators hosted by the University College for the Creative Arts@Rochester. They identified the common goals of those who nuture and support fashion designer business incubation:

  • supporting regeneration through fashion
  • generating a fashion-based economy
  • raising local profile and attracting customers and designers
  • encouraging designer success
Fashion Incubators vary enormously in terms of size, support, control and budget. What ALL incubators around the US and around the world have in common is that they seek to stimulate entrepreneurial activity and to assist with sourcing, networking, marketing and promotion.
  • Are you involved in an incubator as a designer, executive or mentor?
  • Are you current with designer needs in terms of specialist assistance and skills training?
  • What is the sustainablity factor for incubators and funding?
  • What international working relationships and business opportunities can be developed?
  • Are you comtemplating starting an incubator?
  • Are you a local fashion designer look for industry knowledge and support?

YOU NEED TO BE THERE----The Second International Conference of Fashion Incubators is a major event on the fashion calendar, and will attract an audience from the global design and business communities and the general public from across the Southeast US. International creative leaders will engage in an exciting two day program of workshops, networking, and student design competition in an environment where we can develop world-wide business associations.

More details to follow soon.
PLAN to be there!

Could Atlanta be the Urban Style Fashion Capitol of the World? PDF Print E-mail
Mr. Emmanuel Scott, CEO and owner of Le'unnamme Fashion Productions, was recently asked if he thought Atlanta's urban style is unique in anyway. He said, "I do believe Atlanta Urban Fashion Style is unique. Yes, as the birthplace of so many music styles, current and most dominant music artists, Atlanta has the ability to draw first-hand from a colorful culture and its music. It's a city with untapped and hidden cultures; it is a city set to be a trend leader. Everything about Atlanta Urban Fashion Style is wonderland; it is different in its own way and full of new energy. Atlanta fashion still has much work to be done; it has accomplished a lot but still needs to spread further for all the rest of the world to know."
